About Us
Our mission is to care for and preserve the hand woven and hand knotted art that our family has been devoted to for centuries. We are a family owned and operated business, offering our clients the expertise we have gained from generations of family who spun yarn, wove dowry kilims, knotted prayer rugs, and took great pride in creating, caring for, and restoring woven art.
We continue a long family tradition dedicated to craftsmanship, preservation, and educating interested community members in the weavings we have inherited from our ancestors to pass on to our descendants. We began working towards this mission in our native country of Turkey, first in Anatolia and then in Istanbul. We believe rugs and kilims should be celebrated as art and are one of the greatest traditions that we have been fortunate enough to inherit.
We are now based in New York City where we are more committed than ever to preserving our past so that we may share it with our future generations. For years, we owned and operated Knotting Slope in Park Slope, Brooklyn, where we we provided kilim and rug restoration and cleaning services, and sold authentic and unique hand made rugs, kilims, and textiles made by great Anatolian artisans, some of whom we have known since childhood.
At the end of 2009, we moved our operations on-line. We continue to serve both our Brooklyn neighbors as well as all of NYC and the tri-state area. We remain as committed as ever to providing superior service, care, and attention to the needs of all of our valued clients.
